This photo is so simple yet so complex at the same time.

Taking a Break
This parrot resides in the famous San Diego zoo, which I visited over spring vacation. When I saw the vibrant bird, I knew it would be perfect for the black and white with color project. Its clear and outstanding colors contrast perfectly with the plain black and white background. It took me forever to get the color selection quite right, but I love the outcome.

The Last Snow
In March, there was a huge snow storm. Huge might be the wrong word. There was a snow storm that got us out of school for a day. I knew it would be the last snow before the onslaught of spring, and I really wanted to capture the waning moments of winter as the rising temperatures consumed the last bits of crystal snow.
Flower After Rain
This photograph, displaying a shallow depth of field, was one of the first ones I ever turned in. . The day I took this photo, there had just been a huge rainstorm, and the ground was wet and muddy. I wanted to take advantage of that wonderful post-storm aura. Shallow depth of field in a photo is a beautiful element that can make a simple snapshot extremely interesting. That's why I love this picture so much, because as a photographer, I felt as if I had achieved more than a simple snapshot.
